As far as the official reports say, there still no cases of Influenza A/H1N1 in Sayulita.

Some patients still come for check-ups on that one though, but they don't even come close to the flu symptoms.

Saludos!

Hi, do you have any updates now almost 2 months later after these posts and after the panic somewhat dying down even though many more cases reported throughout Mexico and the rest of the world? Were or are there any cases reported in Sayulita as of the beginning of July? Thanks.

You know who else is to blame? Government.

Just kidding. But I've heard opinions that the whole swine flu scare was invented to make people forget about the failing economy. I guess it might be kinda working.

So far. But I don't think it will last long. I'm sure sooner or later they'll start reporting something even if it's not exactly true it's still a great way to get viewers (hot news and all that).

Lo ciento, only the last line caught my eye as I was scanning the post. "Free Margarita" was all I saw. Nonetheless, what better time to visit Mexico than now!

There is no flu danger. I will go as far to say that, for the most part, there is only perceived danger in this world. I blame the fear mongering media and those who stand to gain financially from the sale of anti-viral drugs.

Oops - sorry, that offer was for Brian Williams et al with NBC news on the printing of their retraction. (Is that you, Brian?) But have a great time here!

Over and out on this subject from me. I'm sure the good doc wants to keep this on health-related issues.

Hi, me again! I just sent this note to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29104230/ ~ anyone care to join me?

"Hi, and Greetings from Sayulita, Mexico!

I live here in Sayulita, and heard from my sister-in-law the other day that you recently ran a story in which you announced that there were 14 cases of the Swine Flu in Sayulita and that the restaurants here were closed because of it.

Al contrario! Nobody I know knows a single person who has had this flu. So I contacted the local MD who told me that there has not been a single case of it in Sayulita as of yesterday, May 8, 2009.

Our little town depends on the kindness of tourists, and erroneous reports of danger are killing us down here - Mexican and Gringo alike!

The Mexican government wisely asked all non-essential businesses to close for 6 days to curb the spread of this flu. Stores, restaurants, churches and schools were closed all over the entire country in a noble attempt to help. We are now up and running and ready to show you all a good time.

Please please please retract your economy-suffocating fairy tale! And then come on down and have a margarita on me!"

Gracias. I agree! But I think someone should tell NBC News this, as it was national news in the U.S. and has probably affected our local economy. I will try to write them. Salud, Jeana
